Any workouts or exercise that would help improve swimming when i cant get to the pool?
Absolutely. As a swimmer I focus on a strong core and shoulders besides cardio to hold your breath longer. For a strong core I use an exercise ball. Try laying on your back with the ball under your feet. Lift your hips and off the ground to create a straight line hold for 5 seconds and repeat. There are other great things also. Try holding a plank not only on your front but both your sides. For keeping shoulders in great condition I use resistance bands to strengthen them (http://www.byrn.org/gtips/swimcords.htm great web to help). Also, don’t forgot to do cardio like running or stadium stair running to hold your breathe longer in the pool.

of course. my swim team does dry lands which consists of: pushups, situps, jump rope, cords, ring of fire, and i forgot what it was just propping up on both elbows and toes and supporting your whole body. do that for one minute. then do that on both elbows and feet. each one a minute.
you can run and just do any exercise. swimming uses lots of muscles.
different strokes require more use of certain muscles, so its good to do every exercise. even better if you go for a swim.
